There’s no equivalent for other classes, which creates an artificial sorcerer dip meta. It’s so much stronger than the other abilities on the generic list. What is an issue is that I see the tradeoff being too worthwhile.

Providing the monsters/encounters we face are balanced accordingly, that’s not an issue for me. That’s kind of the point of the mythic system so I agree on that. I don’t have a concern about a mythic ability being suitably mythic. So the payoff for such an Ability positively needs be pretty strong, otherwise it would be worth the inherent risk of going toe-to-toe with such worldshaking enemies, etc.

You sacrifice a full Mythic Tier Ability, which you only get in the first place by accomplishing some mindbogglingly challenging task that no regular mortal being could have accomplished at all. This also applies to Mythic Path abilities that come later. In Kingmaker, Level 20 Abilities are basically non-existant and most are too in WotR, except the Bloodline one which everyone will pick and so for good reasons. Neverwinter Nights 1 and 2 also had Epic leveling so you could use those powerful things regularly. If they were limited to use in the fight vs Melissan then people would justifiedly hate them. If Level 40 was the end then it would work but the current system is the problem, not the Ascended Bloodline Mythic Feat.īaldurs Gate 2: ToB had these HLAs but which were available early enough to use them and for the majority of your playthrough. With such a change however, it would allow much more multiclassing and Prestige Class combination all while allowing to benefit from these powerful abilities for the first time ever throughout the majority of your playtime.Įssentially, what I mean, is that the current system sucks because Level 20 is like 1 minute of 80 hours of playtime. Normally, these Abilities are of almost no use to the player, making the workhours needed implementing them moot. Just name it to ‘Ascended’ and allow it to select any capstone that you qualify for by having only 1 level dip in any particular Class. Contrary, I find the idea of getting the capstone back (and much earlier) if multiclassing to be something that should be available for each and every Class. Or, failing that, require a much deeper investment of levels in the sorcerer class to qualify. Sorcerers get their bloodline powers at 1/4/8/12/16/20, so this would put you one power ahead of the curve, rather than grabbing the highest tier power at level 5. This stops them being blatantly ahead of the curve, while still increasing their power dramatically. These are all far too exploitable with single level dips.Ī much more reasonable version of this would be to increase a sorcerer’s effective level by ~4 for the purposes of qualifying for bloodline powers.

  • Draconic: Immunity to one element, paralysis, sleep and blindsense.

  • Celestial: Immunity to acid and cold, immunity to petrification, electricity resist 10, fire resist 10, +4 saves vs poison.
  • Serpentine: beast shape 3 (single form).
  • Elemental: give you immunity to sneak attacks, critical hits and one element of your choice.
  • These capstone abilities are very, very strong: and easily eclipse many standard mythic abilities even with the extra level 1 sorcerer cost, and the fact that it makes your actual capstone do nothing when you get there. I’m confused by this existing in the game at all, when eldritch heritage (a far more tame feat chain) is absent.Ī 1 level dip into sorcerer to get a lvl 20 sorcerer capstone, available from level 5, when you get your first mythic rank.

This mythic ability is super potent - and even more problematic from a character building perspective. You are a paragon of your sorcerous bloodlineīenefit: You immediately gain an ability from the 20th level of your bloodline.
